Was Practical Magic 2 Filmed at the Original Owens House?
No. Fans hoping to see the exact house from the first Practical Magic should know that the famous Owens home was never a permanent residence.
For the 1998 film, the enormous Victorian house was constructed specifically for production on San Juan Island in Washington State and was dismantled after filming ended.
Its distinctive white exterior, sprawling porch and waterfront garden nevertheless became one of the most recognisable elements of the movie and helped establish the cosy coastal aesthetic now so closely associated with Practical Magic.
That makes the sequel’s move to England particularly interesting. Rather than simply returning to the original Washington locations, the filmmakers have created a new physical world for the Owens family.
