Disney has brought the world of Moana to the heart of London with an immersive pop-up experience celebrating the upcoming live-action remake earlier this week – and fans were treated to an unexpected appearance from none other than Dwayne Johnson himself!!
Held at Potters Fields Park beside Tower Bridge, the free one-day experience transformed the riverside location into the Polynesian island of Motunui ahead of Moana sailing into UK cinemas on July 10, 2026.
Johnson, who reprises his role as the demigod Maui, was joined by Catherine Lagaʻaia, who plays Moana, as the pair surprised visitors after exploring the experience alongside director Thomas Kail and executive producer Auliʻi Cravalho, the original voice of Moana.
What Was Inside the Disney Moana Experience London?
Designed to immerse visitors in the world of Moana, the event featured a six-meter replica of Maui’s iconic fish hook, alongside a full-scale recreation of Moana’s canoe.

Dwayne Johnson Surprises Schoolchildren
One of the day’s biggest moments came when pupils from St Gregory’s School in Colchester finally met Dwayne Johnson after the school went viral on TikTok.
The students had previously posted a video asking Johnson to respond, with the Hollywood star surprising them via video before inviting the class to attend the London event, where they finally met him in person.

The Disney Moana Experience London experience took place at Potters Fields Park, located beside London’s Tower Bridge on the banks of the River Thames.
For one day, the famous central London park was transformed into Disney’s fictional island of Motunui, making it one of the capital’s most unique movie-themed attractions ahead of the film’s release.
