Where Was Sterling Point Filmed?
Muskoka Lakes, Ontario, Canada
The heart of Sterling Point is the Muskoka Lakes region of Ontario, a destination famous for its crystal-clear waters, forest landscapes and historic cottage communities. In the series, this idyllic setting becomes the home of Annie and Connor’s unexpected inheritance – a remote island left to them by their grandfather.
The real-life Muskoka region gives the show its signature summer atmosphere, with waterfront views, boat journeys, and secluded lake settings creating a sense of escape from everyday life.
Specific Sterling Point filming locations included areas around Muskoka, such as Mortimer’s Point Marina, where production captured the region’s iconic lake scenery.
Sparrow Lake Camp, Ontario
Another key filming location was Sparrow Lake Camp in Severn, Ontario. The summer camp setting adds to the nostalgic coming-of-age feel of the series, reinforcing the themes of friendship, discovery and young adulthood. Sterling Point filming locations definitely evoke that warm, fuzzy nostalgic feeling.
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
While Muskoka provides the natural beauty of Sterling Point, production also used Toronto for additional filming. The city helped support studio work and other location scenes during production.
The contrast between Toronto’s urban environment and Muskoka’s peaceful wilderness reflects the journey at the centre of the story — leaving behind city life for somewhere completely unfamiliar.
What Have the Cast & Crew Said About the Sterling Point Filming Locations?
Megan Park has spoken about wanting to capture the feeling of a classic summer escape while still telling a modern story about identity, family, and belonging – and decided that Muskoka, where she spent her childhood summers, would be the perfect place to bring the story to life. “I wanted to have this summer feel, and it’s so Canadian to have this lake culture, at least in Ontario,” Megan explained to Teen Vogue. “Everybody has a cottage or at least goes to visit a cottage. That’s just so part of our culture here.”
In case you’re wondering, yes, Muskoka is also home to the famously idyllic cottage in Heated Rivalry!
As you can tell, it was important for production to lean into the authenticity of Muskoka’s landscapes rather than creating the world entirely through studio sets.
